Steve and Ivan, a truly inspirational pair, decided to create their own biking challenge to generate vital income for the Rowans Hospice Charity in memory of Steve’s wife, Louise – also known as Brandy.

Brandy received care from the Rowans Hospice at Home team however, sadly passed away last year (in 2021). Steve told us “Rowans Hospice provided amazing care and support to Brandy, along with her three daughters, Alice, Katie and Ellen.”

Steve and his friend Ivan set up ‘Biking for Brandy’ which involved a series of cycling events throughout the year, starting with an 80-mile ride around the New Forest which they completed in April. The second challenge was a bike ride from the village of Woodbury, which is Ivan’s home town, to the Rowans Hospice Charity in Purbrook. This was a very impressive 150 miles which was split over 2 days!

Ivan told us “It was an amazing experience. Emotional, poignant, challenging but ultimately one that we shall never forget. We knew Brandy was with us throughout, chuckling to herself as we laughed and cried along the route but being so proud of her devoted husband Steve for raising money for the Charity.”

So far ‘Biking for Brandy’ has generated £1,510 for the Charity. This fantastic amount has been added with all the donations made in memory of Brandy, which has generated £5,000 to date.

Steve and Ivan will be continuing their biking journey with another challenge in Autumn! We are very excited to see where the pair will be heading off to next.
