Rowans Hospice Lottery Player wins £2,000 from Local Hospice Lottery weekly draw

A Rowans Hospice Lottery player won £2,000 in September by participating in the Local Hospice Lottery’s weekly draw.
The winner, Steve Price, has been playing the Local Hospice Lottery (LHL) in support of Rowans Hospice since March 2021. We had the pleasure of meeting him and his wife, Jan, when they both came in last week for a cheque presentation.
Steve’s connection with Rowans is personal, with some of his friends, family and ex-colleagues from the police being supported by the Charity. When we asked Steve how he felt when he received the call that he had won £2000, he said; “I had no expectation at all. It was like a bolt out of the blue!” We also asked how he would be spending the money and he said that as well as putting some aside for an upcoming ‘big’ birthday, he will also be giving some back to Rowans and the Air Ambulance.
A final comment from Steve on what he would like to say to people considering playing the LHL, he said, “you have to be in it to win it!”
What is Local Hospice Lottery?
Rowans Hospice is proud to be working with the LHL – a weekly lottery set up to provide financial support to hospices across Great Britain. Playing the LHL in support of Rowans Hospice gives you a chance to win £2,000 every single week – along with 200 other cash prizes. PLUS…there’s also a chance to win a rollover prize! Players are also automatically entered into Super Draws, which take place every March, September and December and have an additional guaranteed top prize of an incredible £10,000!
LHL is so much more than just a lottery.
While the chance to win is exciting, many of our players tell us that the real reward is knowing that they’re helping local families during some of their most difficult times and also being able to give back to the Hospice after one of their loved ones has been cared for there. Each ticket purchased helps fund vital hospice services, including specialist care, emotional support for patients and their loved ones and bereavement counselling. These services are provided free of charge but rely heavily on the generosity and support of our community. This means your participation directly helps families facing serious illness, end-of-life care, or bereavement.
