A refreshed car park
As part of their social value outreach programme in Hampshire, Milestone Infrastructure recently assisted Rowans Hospice with some much needed car park improvements.
Milestone carry out highways maintenance across Hampshire and have been working with the Charity since 2023. Last year, they assisted the Charity with some vegetation clearance and several members of their scheduling team undertook a Charity abseil, raising over £650 for Rowans Hospice.
This car park project came about as the result of a site visit, during which the Rowans facilities team pointed out safety issues on site due to faded linings throughout the grounds of the Hospice. It was agreed that Milestone would undertake a clean up of the car park and approach a specialist sub-contractor with a view to renewing lining across the grounds of the Hospice.
Within a week, everything was arranged. Wilson & Scott (the longest established car park and road marking company in the UK) agreed to carry out the lining, following the initial clearance work undertaken by a team of Milestone operatives.
“We were delighted to be asked to support this initiative. We value our work with Milestone in Hampshire and have been keen to support their efforts to deliver social value for quite some time. The new road markings we installed will help to keep staff and visitors to the Hospice safe for years to come. Rowans offer critical services to the local community, so for us to give back in this way was a real pleasure.” – Cameron Simms, Managing Director, Wilson & Scott (Highways) Ltd.
Despite the work being carried out across two of the hottest days of the year thus far, everyone involved worked tirelessly to complete the works. All of the double yellow lines, speed warnings and 100 car parking bays on site were visible again.
“Our partnership with Rowans came from our staff voting to support this wonderful cause. Bringing one of our key sub-contractors into that relationship was a natural next step, and we’re so grateful for the support given by Wilson & Scott on this occasion. Thank you to everyone at Rowans for giving us this opportunity to support the Charity with this project, we’re so humbled by the lovely feedback we received.” – Adam Watts, Communications & Social Value Manager, Milestone Infrastructure
