Abseiling Spinnaker Tower

80 Hospice Heroes will be abseiling down the Emirates Spinnaker Tower this weekend to raise money for Rowans Hospice. Fundraisers are being encouraged to dress up as their favourite superhero to take on the tower.

Facing their fear this weekend will be Hollyoaks and Kings Panto star Marcus Patrick, who is abseiling at 4pm on Saturday dressed as Spiderman. Although no stranger to challenges, having won the first series of 71 Degrees North, he has confessed to the fundraising team that he doesn’t like heights.

Also abseiling on Sunday morning are two nurses who are based at Rowans Living Well Centre, located next door to the Hospice in Purbrook Heath Road. They support patients and carers to enable them to live well; providing advice, a range of therapies and a listening ear.

Gemma Carden, Events & Community Fundraiser at Rowans Hospice, said: “A massive thank you and good luck to all our abseilers this weekend, they are all Hospice Heroes. Thanks to them, the Hospice is able to provide services free of charge to people affected by life-limiting illnesses in our community.”
