A truly Magical Evening

We were delighted with the huge turnout at our magical Starlit Walk that took place on Thursday, 27 October 2022. Almost 500 walkers took part in the walk around the famous Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, in memory of loved ones.

The Big Noise Samba Band joined us at the start line and kicked off the evening, followed by a Zumba warm-up led by the wonderful Jenna, which got the crowds ready and raring to go.

Many walkers dressed up and embraced the theme of bright and sparkly lighting up the 1.5 or 3-mile route. Our Meerkat friends Rowan and Rodney helped out along the route with Rowan leading the walk and Rodney doing his marshal point duties. Portsmouth City Band played along the route alongside the Princesses from Little Hopes and Dreams.

Children were thrilled to receive a special medal at the finishing line, with many having their photos taken under the fantastic balloon arch.

Each family had their own reason for taking part:

We love supporting Rowans Hospice Charity because they have helped so many people through difficult times.
I walked Starlit to say thank you for looking after my grandad.
My husband and my daughter’s daddy died at the Hospice in April at the age of 30. They helped so much during the worst time of mine and his life and still are supporting me now.

We have taken part in the Starlit Walk in memory of our grampa and nanny over the past 4/5 years.

We would like to say a huge thank you to our walkers and a special thanks to; Jenna, The Big Noise Samba Band, Little Hopes and Dreams, Commander Gazzard, Tech Events, Darren Gamblen, Glitter Fairies, Portsmouth City Band, the team at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, our wonderful volunteers, Rowan and Rodney the Meerkats, Beautiful Weddings by Vanessa, Portsmouth Naval Base, and BaxerStorey in Boathouse 7.

Your efforts have raised an incredible £11,275 to date which will directly support the delivery of our services now and into the future.
