We were delighted with the fantastic turnout at our unforgettable Moonlit Memories Walk 2023, which took place last month on Saturday, 20 May. Over 300 walkers participated in the 6 and 10 mile walks around Southsea and the famous Portsmouth Historic Dockyard in memory of loved ones.
The Travelin’ Shedders Ukulele Band kicked off the evening, followed by an energetic performance by the Rave Big Noise Samba Band. Jenna warmed up the crows with a Zumba choreography, getting the walkers ready and raring to go.
Many participants dressed up in bright, cheerful clothes and illuminated accessories, and received further sparkly embellishments from the Glitter Fairies. Our Meerkat friend Rowan was also on hand to welcome participants to Castle Field, and was happy to pose for photographs.
At 21:30 hrs, the crows gathered together at the start line, where fireworks marked the beginning of their 6 and 10 mile walks.
Walkers were invited for a pit-stop at Portsmouth Cathedral, where they had the opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one before proceeding on to the Historic Dockyard and then back to Castle Field, where all participants received a medal, a hot beverage and breakfast bap.
We would like to say a special thanks to; Jenna, the Travelin’ Shedders, the Big Noise Samba Band, the Glitter Fairies, the team at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard and Portsmouth Cathedral, our dedicated team of volunteers, and – of course – our wonderful walkers and everyone who has made a donation.
Your efforts have raised over £29,850 so far, which will directly support the delivery of our services now and into the future.
