Rowans’ care is as much about living as it is about dying. We want patients and their loved ones to make the best of the time they have and create treasured memories. That is why our team goes above and beyond to ensure their last moments are filled with love, joy, and fulfilment.

For nearly 30 years, we have helped to improve quality of life for people affected by life-limiting illness by easing physical symptoms as well as offering psychological, spiritual and social support. All services are offered free of charge to patients, their families and carers, either on our In-patient Unit or in the comfort of their own home.

However, with only 10% of government funding, we rely on voluntary donations to raise almost 90% of our £7.8 million running costs ourselves. With surging running costs, and the demand for care services constantly increasing, we have to make difficult decisions now.
Moments that Matter

The reality is stark: without the support of our local community, the future of the Hospice is unsustainable. Help us today, so we can be here in case you need us tomorrow.

Deborah Paris, Chairman of Rowans Hospice, said:

Like many other hospices across the country, the gap between our costs and income has risen significantly.  We are now faced with having to make some very difficult decisions in order to try and secure our future financial sustainability. Regrettably, this means restructuring our services and making some staff redundant.

Following unsuccessful attempts to gain more funding from the NHS, Rowans Hospice has recently announced redundancies to 20 of its staff and the restructure of services.

We are not ceasing services, but will have to reduce the amount of services we provide. In doing so, we will continue to focus on the quality of our care on which so many rely.
