Memory Elephants are unique, soft memorial gifts, made using items of clothing that belonged to a person who has died.
When you buy your Memory Elephant, not only are you celebrating and remembering a loved one, you are also helping us to provide palliative care to everyone who needs it in the Portsmouth and South East Hampshire region now and into the future.
You can order a memory elephant below. We ask for a suggested donation of £25, which goes directly to Rowans Hospice. We are very grateful to our sewing volunteers who give their time freely to expertly craft your elephant with love.
The best material to make your memorial gift memory elephant is cotton shirt material, and therefore we recommend cotton shirts or nightdresses/pyjamas. Ideally, please provide us with two average-sized shirts per elephant. Please call us to discuss if you would like to submit more than two items.

If you have a special emblem, piece of material or buttons, for example, that you would like to be incorporated into part of the elephant, please make this clear in the Special Instructions box on your order form.
We will provide the stuffing and thread.
Once you have placed your order and have received your confirmation, please contact staff at Rowans Living Well Centre who will arrange a time for you to drop off the items of clothing and also when to collect once your Memory Elephant has been made. All memorial gift elephants are made to the highest standard by a small team of sewing volunteers and we aim to make your elephants within 4 weeks of your order.
If you would like to make your order offline, please download this order form and bring it to Rowans Living Well Centre (open Monday – Friday 10am – 4pm), with your material and a cheque made payable to Rowans Hospice, cash or a debit or credit card to make a card payment.
