Rowans Hospice Charity are delighted to announce that the Rowans Does Strictly LIVE show will be held on Saturday, 21 January 2023 at Portsmouth Guildhall.
The fourteen ‘Strictly Stars’ are training hard in the dance studio and they cannot wait to chasse onto the dance floor and perform either a Latin or Ballroom dance to our celebrity judges and you, our fantastic audience.
Whilst our Strictly Stars warm up backstage, the wonderful Lisa Marie, will be entertaining you with her fantastic vocals.
As a former professional dancer , Lisa has performed all over the word in theatres, cruise ships and touring shows, however she is now a versatile and established vocalist who covers genres from the 50s/60s through to chart hits.
The Rowans Does Strictly LIVE show promises to be a night of ‘fab-u-lous’ fun and entertainment, compered by local broadcaster Darren Gamblen. Not only will our Strictly Stars be performing their couples dances, but they have also been practicing two great group dances to wow the crowds.
Judge number one is the talented Bessie Cursons from Bessie Cursons Academy of Theatre and Dance.
Bessie originally agreed to support us back in 2020, before our plans were put on hold due to COVID-19.
We are so excited that she is still able to bring her years of experience as a dancer and actress to the show and help make this an evening to remember.
Judge number two is the fabulous actress, Emma Barton.
As well as appearing in a number of television programmes and stage shows, Emma competed in the 17th series of Strictly Come Dancing in 2019, reaching the Grand Final with professional dance partner Anton Du Beke.
We are thrilled to have Emma’s Strictly knowledge on the judging panel.
Ellesha bring an impressive set of experiences to the show, having danced at Buckingham Palace with the prestigious Tap Dogs, the London 2012 Olympic Games opening ceremony as well as various Bollywood films and corporate events and is now teaching at SD Studios, Portsmouth.
We can not wait to see what Ellesha brings to the show.
Our Strictly Stars are being put through their paces by David Keal and Christine Wilkes who are from the Keal School of Dance and Instep Dance Club respectively.
David and Christine are both fully trained professional dance instructors and are well qualified to teach all kinds of dance genres. They have kindly donated their time to Rowans Hospice Charity to train our Strictly Stars in Ballroom and Latin dances every week.
Take a look at David and Christine in the video below demonstrating a fab-u-lous Swing Dance during a rehearsal.
