three women holding a giant check written to Rowans Hospice. The Woman on the left has blonde wavy hair, wears glasses and wears all black, she's in her early 70's/ The woman in the middle is in her mid 20's, she has round glasses, and dark red hair, she wears a long white and black dress. The woman on the right is older, has short white hair and wears a pink puffer gillet, a black long sleeve top underneath, grey trousers, black shoes.. Behind and above the women is a white banner that says "Catherington WI", in the room there are about 30 women sat on blue chairs. Some chairs are empty. The room looks like a village hall.

At Rowans Hospice, we are continually inspired by the kindness shown by our local community. One shining example is the Catherington Women’s Institute, who have raised an amazing £2,500+ since choosing us as their Charity of the Year in January 2025.

As a charity with just 22% of our funding coming from the NHS, we must raise an additional £23,700 every day to continue delivering vital care in our community. Organisations like the Catherington WI help ensure our critical care remains accessible and free of charge to those who need it most.

Fundraising in Action

Catherington WI has embraced a variety of creative fundraising activities throughout the year, demonstrating the true spirit of community involvement.

  • South Downs Food Festival – Members baked cakes and cookies to donate and sell at our cake stand at the festival
  • Go Green Week – As part of this event, members organised their own fundraising activity, encouraging wider community involvement while supporting Rowans Hospice.
  • Tabletop sales – Regular fundraising through tombolas and other events has steadily added to their total.
  • Gift a Cuddle Appeal – Alongside their fundraising events, they also made a generous Christmas donation to our ‘Gift a Cuddle This Christmas’ Appeal

Together, these efforts have raised over £2,500 in 2025 – an incredible achievement!

Thank you

We are incredibly grateful to everyone at Catherington WI for their ongoing commitment and kindness.
