Having grown up in Portsmouth and attended Portsmouth Grammar School and The University of Portsmouth, I spent over 30 years with Sussex Police, retiring as an Inspector. My wife and I then moved to North-East Scotland and entered local politics. I was elected as a Councillor and then later became the Leader of Aberdeenshire Council. This role included a number of trusteeships and memberships and chairs of various committees and boards, including as chair of the Joint Committee of the Aberdeen City Region Deal. The Council was a major partner in the local Health and Social Care Partnership. At the Local Government elections in May 2022, I stepped down and returned home to Portsmouth. I now use my boardroom skills and experience on Rowans’ Board of Trustees.
