Wrap up for the Winter Wonderland Walk

Why not chase the winter blues away with our fundraising Winter Wonderland Walk around the stunning Southwick Estate and support local Hospice care?

This is a fun, family-friendly charity event where everyone is welcome to take part, including your four-legged friends. Please note dogs must remain on a short lead (no extendable leads allowed) throughout the walk and all poop must be scooped.

We will have some festive fun to keep your spirits high and look out for our elves along the route who will give you a cheery wave and send you on your merry way.

Fancy dress is encouraged and we are excited to confirm that Santa is a huge charity fundraising supporter and has sent us a selection of Santa suits/Mrs. Claus dresses to give away at the Winter Wonderland Walk.

Sponsorship

The Charity’s reliance on voluntary donations remains critical in the aftermath of the COVID-19 Pandemic and we are calling upon the local community for help to raise vital and much-needed funds by raising £25 (each/per family) in sponsorship if they are able to. Take a look at the fundraising tips below to find out how to set up your JustGiving page on our Winter Wonderland Walk Fundraising Page.

All fundraising for the Winter Wonderland Walk will be supporting the future of local Hospice care.

The Southwick Estate

The stunning Southwick Estate was originally founded by the Augustinian Monks from Portchester in the mid 12th Century.  In 1539 Henry VIII sold the priory and its assets to John Whyte, where it is still owned and managed by his descendants.

During World War II the Southwick House was requisitioned by the Government, however much of the rest of the original Estate remains intact.

Join Rowans Hospice Charity for a Winter Wonderland Walk and enjoy either a 2.4 miles (1 lap) walk or 4.8 miles (2 laps) walk of this wonderful local piece of history.

Map of Route

Early entry to the Rowans Christmas Fair – Sold Out, please click here for additional times.

We are thrilled to confirm that all of our Winter Wonderland Walkers will be given early access to the Rowans Hospice Christmas Fair at the end of their walk between 12:00 – 13:00. We strongly recommend pre-booking your space to visit the Christmas fair so we can avoid overcrowding in the hall. If you do not wish to pre-book, please be aware you may need to queue and wait for entry.

Visit the D-Day Memorial Hall which is situated at the end of the route where there will be a variety of local businesses selling all kinds of wonderful products. It is the perfect opportunity to start your Christmas shopping and enjoy some more festive fun.

We have also heard that Santa will be stopping by and welcoming all the children to his Grotto where they can write their Christmas letters – have you been naughty or nice? deliver them to Santa and also have their faces painted.

Early entry to the Christmas Fair has now sold out, please click here for additional time slots to register.

Important Information

The health, safety and wellbeing of our patients, their families, our staff and volunteers remain our absolute priority and like many other organisations, we recommend the use of a lateral flow test prior to attending any of our events. Should you experience any symptoms, or if you have been in contact with anyone displaying symptoms of COVID-19, please kindly refrain from attending.

Fundraising Tips!

The easiest way to collect sponsorship for charity events is to set up a JustGiving fundraising page. It is quick to do, easy to share your story, and simple to receive donations. Any money raised on your fundraising page will be automatically sent to us on a weekly basis, so you do not have to worry about collecting money or sponsorship forms.

Visit our special Winter Wonderland JustGiving Campaign to set up your online fundraising page here.

If you would like to raise money offline, you can download a sponsorship form here.

Top Tips for Fundraising

  • Share your page with friends and family so they can sponsor you.
  • Remind them that if they ticked yes to the Gift Aid questions on JustGiving/sponsor form, a further 25% will be added to their donation by HM Revenue & Customs.
  • Remember to thank all those who have sponsored you. If you can, mention them on social media and include a link to your fundraising page so others can also sponsor you if they wish.

Top Tip: Read the JustGiving Toolkit on setting up and promoting your fundraising page.
