We’re excited to announce that our fantastic in-memory walk is back this year!
This year, our popular Moonlit and Starlit walks will be merged into one amazing family-friendly walk, the Shining Stars Walk on Saturday, 21 September 2024 at 7pm.
This fun evening is a 4 or 8 mile sponsored walk around Portsmouth and Southsea, with the registration and warm-up starting at 6:00pm at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth, PO1 2HB.
Whether you have a personal experience with Rowans Hospice, you’re remembering a loved one or simply supporting Rowans, this event is open to everyone!
Choose from a 4 or 8-mile walk, breathing in the sea air, see the Spinnaker Tower by night, and then wow at the wonder of the HMS Warrior, where you will be able to place a candle on the deck and enjoy some live music.
As the sun sets and before departing on your walk you will have the opportunity to take part in a fun warm-up, take loads of photos and much more!
Our online ticket sales are now closed, but you can still join us on the night!
Please arrive at HMS Temeraire, Portsmouth, PO1 2HB at 6:00pm to get your tickets, then join us for entertainment and a warm-up before the walk officially starts at 7:00pm.
This year it’s even easier to raise your sponsorship!
This year, participants are required to raise a minimum £100 sponsorship per person, or if £150 minimum as a family Team.
Your fundraising page will be automatically created once you buy your tickets via Enthuse. You will receive an email with a link to your own page.

Are you looking for a fun and meaningful way to support a local Charity while also learning new skills and making new friends?
Our Shining Stars Walk is the perfect opportunity: We are still looking for Volunteers to join our team of marshals and help with the smooth running of the event.
Please contact our friendly team via fundraising@rowanshospice.co.uk or call us on 023 9223 7147 if you would like to join us. No previous experience is required – full training will be provided.
It costs £7.8 million a year to provide our FREE specialist end-of-life care. With the Government only covering 10% of our annual costs, we rely on donations to continue delivering our services.
This event is crucial in generating the necessary funds to support the Hospice’s wide range of services, including pain management, emotional care, and support for families and carers. The funds raised ensure that patients receive the highest quality of care in a comforting and dignified environment, making a significant difference in their final days.
So, every pound of sponsorship you raise for the Shining Stars Walk will directly help us deliver our services to our community.
There is limited parking at the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard. We highly encourage participants to car share or use public transport where possible.
Toilets will be available at the registration point and throughout the route.
Adults will received a Shining Stars Walk t-shirt to wear on the night. Fancy dress is welcome too so feel free to wear your tutus, onesies, glow sticks or anything else fun…just please make sure you are dressed appropriately for the weather and a family-friendly event.
Children will receive glowstick accessories to wear and fancy dress is also encouraged!
Don’t forget to wear comfortable footwear.
Bibs
Please download and decorate your bib to attach to your t-shirt and wear on the night.

The Meon Valley Lions will be providing 500 free burguers to the participants. Due to the timing of the walk, children will receive their voucher at registration so the food can be redeem before the start. Adults will receive their food voucher upon crossing the finish line.
Unfortunately dogs are not allowed during the walk due to the starting point and visiting the Porstmouth Historic Dockyard on route.
