Will you support local Hospice care this Lent by taking part in our 40 Days, 40 Ways challenge?

By giving up something small, you can make a big difference to Rowans Hospice Charity. Deciding to give up sweet treats for Lent would mean that instead of spending £1 per day on chocolate, you would be able to make a £40 donation by the end of the challenge.

Many people think Lent is all about giving something up, but it is also the perfect opportunity to try something new. How about asking your friends and family to sponsor you in an exercise challenge? If you were to do 40 squats per day, you’d have completed 1,600 squats by the end of Lent.

We have created an Inspiration Booklet with 40 different ways that you can get involved in this challenge and generate vital income for the Charity.

What is Lent?

Lent is the period of six weeks (40 days not including Sundays) leading up to Easter, the most important festival in the Christian calendar. This year Lent will run from Wednesday, 02 March 2022 until Thursday, 14 April 2022.

Lent is an old English word meaning ‘lengthen’ and is observed in spring when the days begin to get longer. It is a time of giving things up and a test of self-discipline. If you are already taking part in Lent, you could create a JustGiving page and raise funds throughout the 40 days.

Every penny raised makes a huge difference!

The Charity’s reliance on voluntary donations remains critical in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is hoped that with your help we will be able to continue to support all those in our local community who need specialist end of life Hospice care now and in the future.

We are asking everybody who participates in our 40 Days, 40 Ways challenge to pledge to generate a minimum of £25 sponsorship or make a one-off donation to support local Hospice care this lent.

By raising £47, you will be helping to provide a session of day care to one of our patients. Just £15 would pay for a memory box for a child who has lost a family member. One day of in-patient care is worth £506, with one day of Hospice at Home care being £2,613.

Our top tips for fundraising!

The easiest way to collect sponsorship for charity events is to set up a JustGiving fundraising page. It is quick to do, easy to share your story, and simple to receive donations. Any money raised on your fundraising page will be automatically sent to us on a weekly basis, so you do not have to worry about collecting money or sponsorship forms. All monies raised will be supporting the future of local Hospice care.

To create your own fundraising page, visit our 40 Days, 40 Ways JustGiving page and select “Start Fundraising.”

If you would like to raise money offline, you can download a sponsorship form here.
