Being a volunteer for The Rowans Hospice is a great way to gain skills, meet new people, take an active role in your community and could even help you develop a career in the charity sector. All of our volunteers help us to deliver outstanding care to people with life-limiting conditions, regardless of the role that they take within the organisation.
We are currently looking for volunteers who have a good knowledge of a craft, for example knitting, crochet, scrapbooking, carpentry, upcycling or dressmaking. Our craft shop volunteers help customers within the shop, sort stock and some even make items from donated materials that can be sold within the shops.
We welcome everyone – from young people just starting out in the world of work, to those with a lifetime’s wisdom to share. Our volunteers will receive training for their role within the shop – ensuring they are given the skills and guidance needed to make a difference within our charity.
During your time as a volunteer, you will develop your skills and experience, make new friends, and have a really good time along the way. Each year, through donating their time, talents and skills, every one of our 1,500 volunteers helps us to provide practical and emotional support within the hospice, in people’s homes and in the community.
