Description

In-patient Specialist Palliative Care Service

Trust Grade Doctor Position

Salary pay scale MT03 (equivalent to CT1 level)

Rowans Hospice provides specialist palliative care to adults with life limiting illnesses in Portsmouth and South East Hampshire. We work in partnership with Portsmouth University Hospital NHS trust and our two Community Trusts to offer community, day and in-patient specialist services.

We are looking to expand our medical workforce following the recent refurbishment and extension of our in-patient unit. You will join a friendly and well supported multi-professional team, committed to high standards of care.  Your primary role will be to deliver specialist palliative care to the ward in-patients. This is a service post to assist the Consultants and Specialist doctors with the management of an increasingly complex and intense caseload. There is excellent support for personal and career development with plenty of opportunity for education and quality improvement work.

The position of Trust Grade Doctor is for 6-24 months in the first instance, ideal for those wishing to gain more experience in a hospice setting.

The role will form part of the Hospice on-call rota.  The rota provides cover for Rowans Hospice in-patient unit 1 in 5 including weekends, with senior supervision available at all times.  We regret that on-call accommodation cannot be provided; doctors are required to remain within one hour’s travelling distance at all times whilst on-call.

Benefits

  • Consultant / SAS support is available at all times.
  • Annual and Study Leave will be paid pro rata
  • A 2% supplement for On call and 10% Out of Hours.
  • Free on-site parking (as available)
  • Health & Well-Being initiatives, including an Employee Assistance Programme and Health Plan.

Requirements

Suitable candidates will have completed their foundation training.

Applicants must be eligible for full registration with the GMC.  Non-UK / EEA applicants should ensure that they are aware of the current immigration rules for Postgraduate Doctors and Dentists.  For further information on how this may affect your application please visit www.bia.homeoffice.gov.uk.
