Description

Clinical/Counselling Psychologist or CBT/IPT Therapist in Hospice and Bereavement Care

£43,741.95 – £50,055.60 (dependant on experience)

Permanent – full time but part-time hours considered

This is an exciting opportunity to work as part of a well-established, well-regarded psychology service in a hospice setting, striving to make a positive difference in the lives of people facing serious illness.

The successful applicant will join a supportive team of 6 psychologists and counsellors in providing specialist psychological support to people who have a life-shortening illness, to carers, and to individuals experiencing prolonged or complex bereavements. The service also delivers clinical supervision, MDT consultancy, and education, and works across all Rowans Hospice services and into the two local NHS Specialist Palliative Care Teams. The service delivers therapy sessions both in the hospice and in the community.

Support will be provided in developing the post holder’s skills in working with physical illness, in end-of-life care, and in bereavement as part of the induction process and through CPD opportunities.

There is scope for the post holder to hold a small caseload of children and young people to support Rowans’ children and families bereavement service, however this element of the role is entirely negotiable as the Psychology Team support the Meerkat Service as a whole and not all of the team’s clinicians undertake this work.

The post holder will report to the Lead Consultant Clinical Psychologist and will receive regular management support and clinical supervision.

In addition to working within a Charity that works hard to make a significant difference to the local community, and being based in our well-equipped recently refurbished facility, we offer:

  • A competitive salary
  • Contributory Pension (Note: NHS pension will be retained if transferring from the NHS)
  • Generous annual leave allowance
  • Free on-site parking (as available)
  • Health & Well-Being initiatives, including an Employee Assistance Programme and Health Plan

Please feel free to contact Dr Paul Beadon, Consultant Clinical Psychologist, with any questions you might have about the role: 02392 238548 or Paul.Beadon@rowanshospice.co.uk
