The Rowans Hospice medical team, in partnership with Southern Health NHS Foundation Trust and Solent (East) NHS Trust, offers a range of clinical placements.
These include training places within GP specialty Training, Palliative Medicine Specialty Training (Wessex Registrar rotation) and at Foundation-2 (composite post with General Practice).
Doctors training in other specialities, e.g. medical oncology and elderly medicine come for programmed placements with the team.
We particularly enjoy welcoming medical visitors who would like a ‘taster’ and to find out more about us, whether post-certification or during training. Commonly a medical ward round and attendance at multi-disciplinary meetings are arranged. To make the most of these, please try to give two months’ notice so that we can choose an appropriate day.
We also welcome clinical placements for nurses and other allied healthcare professions, including psychology trainees or psychologists wanting to undertake a research placement.
Unfortunately we cannot offer work experience for college or undergraduate students. However, the volunteering team is delighted to discuss roles in clinical areas with such students.
For any enquiry about medical placements or visits please email Dr Huw Jones firstname.lastname@example.org
