Rowans Hospice 'Make-a-Will Fortnight' takes place annually in the first two of June. During the fortnight, participating solicitors agree to waive their normal fee and give their services free of charge in return for a donation being made to Rowans Hospice. We are very grateful to them for their support. The waiver of their normal Will writing fee is for the preparation of a 'basic' or 'simple' Will.
There is no obligation to leave a Legacy (gift in your Will) to Rowans Hospice but if you take advantage of this opportunity and choose to do so, it would be very much appreciated by the Hospice. A Legacy can be large or small and currently one in four of our patients is funded by gifts in Wills.
How it works
- You get in touch with the solicitor of your choice and arrange a mutually convenient appointment to meet with them.
- At the initial meeting, you explain your requirements, e.g. what assets you have and who you want to benefit. The solicitor will tell you if it can be done as a 'basic' or 'simple' Will. If what you request requires specialist advice, the solicitor will tell you what cannot be included under the scheme and give you a separate price for the additional work. All participating solicitors reserve the right to charge you an additional fee if your Will is considered complex.
- The basic service would normally cost in the region of £150 for a single Will and £235 for a joint or mirror Will. It would be appreciated if your donation could reflect the time and effort given by the solicitor in support of this event.
- Instead of paying the solicitor a fee, at your first visit you will be asked to give your donation (cheque made payable to The Rowans Hospice).
