Opportunities that currently need fulfilling:

Do you want to make a real difference to patients by supporting them in their own home – If you have good people skills and you are a good listener why not become a Hospice Companion?

Training is provided at Rowans Hospice for this role which will include safeguarding and lone working procedures.

If you would be happy to choose from one or perhaps more of the following tasks to help keep people in their own home, then we'd love to hear from you. Hours are flexible.  Although this role may be predominately in the community, you may from time to time be asked to support at our Living Well Centre.

The role may involve:

  • Taking people to and from medical appointments
  • Shopping with a patient or getting shopping for them
  • Dog walking
  • Small gardening tasks, e.g. lawn mowing, pruning
  • Light housework
  • Making light snacks
  • Sitting with a patient to allow a family member or carer to go out for an hour or two
  • Providing a listening ear and company

We have exciting opportunities for Sales Assistants who want to use their customer service skills in a very fast moving retail environment.

 

Rowans Retail is proud to support Rowans Hospice by providing a reliable source of income, enabling support to the community when it matters most.

 

Come and be a part of our amazing team of shop volunteers whilst supporting your local hospice. If you are cheerful, friendly, flexible and can spare a few hours during the week or the weekend, we would love to hear from you. You can make new friends, gain valuable work experience and really make a difference by contributing to an income stream for Rowans Hospice. We are very flexible with hours and you can choose the hours to suit you. No experience is necessary as training will be given.

 

Responsibilities include processing stock donations and providing great customer service to the highest standard. As well as sorting through and organising our donations to find items suitable for creating exciting displays or perhaps develop new areas.

Do you have an eye for furniture? A passion for books? Or perhaps you just want to help out in your local community, supporting your local Rowans Hospice. We are looking for warm, friendly people who will greet our customers with a smile and help them to find what they are looking for. No experience is necessary as full training will be given.

If you can give an hour or two each week, we can work around the hours you can offer and we would love to hear from you.

We have vacancies in our Retail Shop in Marmion Road, Southsea specialising in  Furniture and Books.

No experience is necessary as training will be given.

Are you fit and healthy and looking for a way of supporting your local hospice, then why not volunteer and make the difference
Come and join us working as a Volunteer Porter based at our friendly Farlington Warehouse. You should be able to lift and shift medium and heavy loads.

Other requirements are:-

  • Confident with customer service
  • able to take direction
  • good communication skills
  • Local knowledge would be advantageous as you may need to navigate the van driver.

Our in-house catering team provide meals to our patients and as a ward volunteer you will serve the meals and provide refreshments.

Our shifts are as follows:

  • Breakfast and Lunch – 4 hour shift
  • Dinner – 2.5 hour shift

Giving the gift of your time can make a huge difference to our patients and their families. Training and support will be offered on an on-going basis.

Day Care is an integral part of Rowans Hospice and is open on Tuesdays, Wednesday and Thursdays. Day Care enhances quality of life for patients by maintaining their independence and providing personalised care in a homely and relaxing environment.

As a Day Care Host you will ensure that patients ae comfortable during the time they spend with us and that they receive the refreshments of their choice.

A warm and caring approach to the role is essential.

The Hospice prides itself on our beautiful grounds which are maintained by our loyal team of volunteers.

Do you have green fingers and have a passion for plants and general gardening then come and be a part of an amazing volunteer team in a beautiful environment and make a difference to our patients and visitors.

Hours can be flexible, formal experience is not required and we will supply the necessary tools.

  • Duties include:-
    Answering all incoming calls to the hospice switchboard
  • Accurately taking a message if staff are busy or not available and ensuring that written messages are delivered appropriately
  • Demonstrating a consistent level of courtesy and consideration to all patients and their visitors, staff and volunteers

Previous Receptionist / Telephonist experience preferred, but is not essential, as training will be given.

Located within Day Care

Do you want to make a big difference to our patients and help someone to feel much better about themselves?

We will offer you a beautiful volunteering environment and support from our staff and volunteers. Your clients will be visiting our Day Care Centre and may not have had the opportunity in recent times to benefit from your skills, relax and take time out for themselves.
