The Rowans Hospice is delighted to launch Woofs & Wellies, a brand new event for 2013 – a dog walk around the stunning grounds of Stansted Park on Sunday 17th March, starting at 10am. Helping to open registration are two Pets as Therapy (PAT) dogs who regularly visit the Hospice in Purbrook, Scrappy and George.
Ali Corbett, Events Fundraiser at The Rowans Hospice, said: "We're really excited to introduce Woofs & Wellies, a new event for our four-legged friends and their human companions. This will be a picturesque walk through areas of Stansted Park not normally open to the public. We hope lots of dog walkers support this event. Thank you to Scrappy and George for leading the way."
Each dog participating in the walk will receive a doggy medal and doggy bag on completion. It costs just £5 to enter your dog and they can bring along as many human companions as they like. Pooches can even get their two-legged friends to sponsor them. Every £1 raised in sponsorship is vital to the on-going care at The Rowans Hospice. All dogs must be registered to take part.
Unfortunately, due to extraordinary demand, this event is now sold out.
PAT dogs and their volunteer owners bring a much-needed and welcome therapy for many patients who like to stroke the furry visitors. PAT dogs are very gentle animals who are specially trained and are used to coming into contact with people. PAT dogs come in all shapes and sizes; Scrappy is a Jack Russell and George is a Greyhound. Visit www.petsastherapy.org for more information about PAT dogs.
