Volunteer with us

"We make a living by what we get but we make a life by what we give." Sir Winston Churchill

Volunteering is about developing your skills, meeting extraordinary people and working as part of an enthusiastic team. It’s not about how old you are, your educational background, or your level of previous experience.

We simply could not exist without our dedicated team of volunteers. They are of all ages and backgrounds and help us in a huge variety of ways. Most people find volunteering a very enjoyable and fulfilling experience.

As a volunteer with us you will have opportunities to:

  • Do something rewarding
  • Meet a variety of interesting people
  • Develop new and existing skills
  • Widen your social network
  • Discover hidden talents
  • Make a valuable contribution to our work

There are many volunteering roles at The Rowans Hospice and our Trading Company.

Meet our volunteers

Meet some of our volunteers, including Rachel, who assists us with IT skills, Chris, who works in Reception, and Lyn, a member of our floral team.

"I’ve worked as a volunteer in Day Care since 2002 and I really LOVE it! I love the interaction we get with the patients as we have time to get to know them. The staff are always welcoming and grateful for our help." Judy Rees

"After we retired from business, my wife Anne and I became volunteers at The Rowans Hospice. We enjoy being part of a cheerful team that does such worthwhile work for cancer patients and their loved ones." Peter Lane
