Moonlit Memories Walk

Create your own memory with The Rowans Hospice!

About the Walk

The 2016 Moonlit Memories Walk will take place on Saturday 18th June 2016 commencing at 23:00hrs from Castle Field, Southsea; we offer the choice of a 6 mile, or 12 mile walk along Southsea seafront, the Historic Dockyard and Old Portsmouth. Join hundreds of walkers on the night, strolling together to light up the night sky in aid of The Rowans Hospice. The walk is open to everyone aged over 13. Under 16 year olds must be accompanied by an adult participant

Everyone will receive a t-shirt, medal and celebration breakfast on completion of the walk.

This is a fundraising challenge event and therefore each participant is asked to pledge to raise £100. We appreciate for some this is a challenge, however every £1 of sponsorship is important to us. Once registered, we will send you a sponsorship pack to support your fundraising for The Rowans Hospice.

You can also find tips and ideas to help you meet your fundraising challenge here.

This is a fitness challenge and so we recommend that you complete some training and wear sensible, comfortable shoes on the night to help you complete the walk. You can find tips on how to prepare for the walk here.

Why join our Moonlit Memories Walk?

Walkers have different reasons for taking part. Read about some of our previous participants here:

Dave and Emma

“We took part in the Moonlit Memories Walk as part of a challenge of doing 30 different/exciting/challenging things in the year of our 30th birthdays. We’ve never done anything like this so wanted to ease ourselves in with a walk instead of a marathon! The fact that it is at night was a big attraction and the length of the walk is ideal; the fact it raises money for a local charity is a bonus.”

“I’ve always known how important The Rowans Hospice is, but my cousin died in November and the help the family has been given, especially to her husband and young children, aged two and five, has been amazing. I took part in the Moonlit Memories Walk in memory of my cousin and to support The Rowans Hospice.”

How your money is used to support The Rowans Hospice

The money that you raise by taking part in the Moonlit Memories Walk will be used to provide specialist palliative care to the highest possible standard. Your money could be used to deliver one of the following services:

  • £70 makes an hour of Hospice at Home care possible
  • £90 gives one person a day in Day Care
  • £485 will pay for one day of care for an in-patient at The Rowans Hospice
