The Rowans Hospice is a registered charity dependent upon the goodwill of volunteers to provide practical support in providing its services and increasing income, which is much needed to ensure The Rowans Hospice can continue to operate its high standard of care to local people, of all ages and backgrounds.

We have many Hospice shops and showrooms spread across our area of care and they play a vital role in raising funds and awareness for our cause. All of our shops rely on the wonderful help of volunteers to keep them running.

Visit one now and see how we offer high quality garments and goods at affordable prices - you will find us near you at.....Hayling Island, Leigh Park, Waterlooville, Bishops Waltham, Lee-on-the-Solent, Gosport, Drayton, Southsea Books or Southsea Traditional, Fareham, Petersfield, Emsworth, Titchfield, Havant, Cowplain, North End, Portchester, Wickham, Fratton and our large furniture showroom is now open at COSHAM.

We need volunteers now to join these new teams.    APPLICATION FORM

We are delighted to now have a superb shop in Fareham Town Centre as well as a new Craft and Upcycling Shop on London Road, Cowplain this shop sells donated unfinished craft projects, craft equipment, donated material and card making tools etc.

We need volunteers to support all these new and exciting projects - read more here: Volunteer Opportunities

Working in our Trading Shops gives you the opportunity to make a huge difference, not only are you talking to customers about our hospice services, you would also be working in a team who work hard to ensure high quality donated items are available for customers to purchase every day. We offer on site training and hospice information enabling you to feel part of the whole hospice and trading team.

During 2013-2014 The Trading Company donated just over £460,000 to The Rowans Hospice. This is only possible with the generous support from volunteers such as yourself and kind donations of clothing, furniture, bric-a-brac and many other items from the general public.

Please pass on our needs for both donations and volunteers to your friends and acquaintances, tell others of our services, we are always happy to provide talks and presentations to interested people who may require more of an insight into The Rowans Hospice Services. Please inform us if you are aware of any group that would benefit from such a presentation.

We can even collect sack donations and furniture from a business or home, if you want to pull together some donations for us we would be delighted and you could GIFT AID  (ask your neighbours, work colleagues,  friends and family!)

Please call our CHARITY SACK COLLECTIONS LINE ON 023 9238 3611 NOW to arrange a collection of your traditional charity items such as clothing, books, dvds, bric a brac etc

Please call our FURNITURE COLLECTIONS LINE ON 023 9237 8591 NOW to arrange for a viewing of your proposed donation (We cannot take beds, mattresses or any items upholstered item without a fire label.)

Volunteering in our shops has already given many volunteers the time to meet others, use personal skills such as clock restorations, product knowledge and work as a team, learn new skills and be part of a charity who serves your local area.

Here are some of our shop volunteer roles:

  • Select and prepare items for display
  • Receive donated goods
  • Serve customers and operate the till
  • Sort and steam donated clothes

  • Clean and price goods
