Golden Gate Bridge

Cycle California Challenge

Take part in our Cycle California Challenge for 2015.

You will cycle from San Francisco to Los Angeles taking in the beautiful scenery of the west coast of the USA. Cycling 500 miles over 9 days with time to do some sightseeing, this is set to be an exciting challenge and a great way to see America.

The trip will cost £3,000 including a £1,000 donation to The Rowans Hospice. The cost covers your flights, bike transfer from England, transfers to and from the airport in the USA, accommodation for 13 nights including breakfast, a support team and vehicle, logistics and back up.

A deposit of £250 will secure your place - sign up today!

A great experience !

Run The Great South Run in aid of The Rowans Hospice. The fast and flat 10 mile route takes in the iconic sites of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard including Portsmouth Cathedral, Spinnaker Tower and the HMS Victory- which has played host to the Band of HM Royal Marines, who often perform for passing runners at the iconic site. The final flat stretch along the sea front has given thousands of people the opportunity to get a personal best time for more than twenty years.

Every year the event attracts a plethora of athletes, celebrities and runners raising money for good causes, with over £30 million having been raised for charity over the years.

The Bupa Great South Run has grown into a great weekend of running in the popular seaside location, along with the Bupa Junior & Mini Great South Run and the Bupa Great South Run 5k.

If you would like to be on 'Team Rowans' in this year's event you can apply for one of our Bond places. 

Encourage your children to run, as individuals or as a team from school or with friends.

If you already have a place, you can still be on our team. Please give us your details by completing and returning this form.


Children's Moonlit Memories Meander

This very special event is a sponsored walk for children, accompanied by an adult.

Once again we are giving the children the chance to take part in their very own event in aid of The Rowans Hospice, accompanied by an adult. The route of the Meander will take you into secret areas of the naval base and past HMS Victory which will look spectacular lit up at night. The children can choose whether to complete the 1.5-mile course or go on to do a second lap making it a 3-mile challenge. 

Registration is £5 per child with a sponsorship target of £25. Each child will receive a medal and a hot drink and snack on completion.

This year, the optional fancy dress theme is Heroes!

Woofs and Wellies

Woofs and Wellies

29 November 2015 - 10am at Stansted Park, Rowlands Castle, PO9 6DX,

The Woofs & Wellies walk is approximately 3km around the stunning grounds of Stansted Park (with the option to lap the route twice). All dogs taking part must be registered for the walk and are welcome to bring as many human companions with them as they like. Each dog will get a dog medal and doggy bag for taking part in the event.

This simple act of remembrance is a poignant and meaningful way to celebrate, with reflection and hope, all those we miss at Christmas.

The festive season can be especially difficult for those who are coping with loss. Each December we hold our service, Light up a Life - Lake of Lights, where those who are bereaved are invited to remember someone by dedicating a light to them. A short service will take place at 5.45pm.

Everyone is welcome, not just those who have had contact with the Hospice. Additional candles will be available on the night in return for a small donation.

The Rowans Hospice is delighted to repeat its popular Dance-a-thon to be held at Portsmouth Guildhall, with new styles of dances to look forward to it is set to be a great night.

The colour theme is Pink and Purple, so dress up in your tutus and leg warmers!

This year, children can also get involved with a Junior Dance-a-thon during the day - a perfect activity for the end of the half term!

Come and take part in teams so you can work together to keep going throughout the day or night.

Fly like a bird!

Skydive! A breathtaking 2 mile high parachute jump: jumping 10,000 ft in tandem with an instructor, you will freefall 5,000ft reaching 120mph and then as your parachute opens you will experience a tranquil ride back to the drop zone!
Divers must be 16 years and over and under 16 stone.
Cost of Registration £225, which includes training and equipment, you are asked to raise a minumum sponsorship of £200 making £425 in total.
The event can also be arranged for any day to suit you. See 'Year round events.'

Join us for a walk under a star-lit sky along Southsea Seafront, through Old Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard where HMS Victory will be illuminated.

There is also an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one in Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral.

Join our Guinness World Record Holder, Doris Long, to abseil down Portsmouth's landmark building.

Daredevils are wanted to take our Abseil Challenge to brave the 94 metre descent down the iconic Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. This event will take place on both the 2nd and 3rd July 2016.

Over 18's only, open to all who are fit and under 21 stone. If any doubt as to your condition obtain a doctor's certificate. 
Registration costs £50 and you are asked to raise £200 sponsorship.

Fly like a bird! On a day to suit YOU!

Help us raise funds by making an exhilarating 10,000 feet freefall tandem parachute jump! 

Imagine, freefalling  for 5,000 feet reaching speeds of 120 mph before opening your parachute for a 5 minute canopy ride taking in the stunning landscape before landing in front of spectators with friends and family having a grandstand view! 
Divers must be 16 years and over and under 16 stone.

Cost of registration is £225, which includes training and equipment, and you are asked to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship making a total of £425.
