Charity Golf Day for The Rowans Hospice,

An inspired way to raise funds for The Rowans Hospice!
Three very fit people from Canford School, Wimborne are raising funds for The Rowans Hospice by completing a 50km Triathlon around Hambledon.
They will swim 700m and then cycle 34.3km over a route between Hambledon, Droxford and World's End and finally run 14.7km between World's End, Hambledon, and The Rowans Hospice!

Charity Golf Day

On Saturday the 25th May 2013, Portsmouth Golf club will hold its annual charity day to raise money for The Rowans Hospice.
This event has been a regular feature in the golf club's fixture list since 2000 when the club decided to dedicate their annual fund raising activity to one day in the calendar year and to one charitable cause. Since then, the club has raised a total of over £62,000 for the charity.
The day not only includes playing golf on holes which have been sponsored by local businesses but various "on course" activities such as "nearest the pin" competitions for the chance to win a car and other large cash prizes. The "putting" competition is open to all who would like to have a go and there will be a BBQ available afterwards.
After the event there will be a presentation of trophies, with prizes donated by generous individuals and businesses followed by an auction and disco.
There are still some tee times left for those who would like to play and the event is open to anyone with either a club handicap or a society handicap with separate prizes for each and the "off course" competitions are open to all.
This will be a fun day for everyone to enjoy so bring along your friends and family and come along in the evening and join in the festivities.

Don't leave it until the last minute to put your affairs in order, ensure your wishes will be fulfilled...
This is the first year The Rowans Hospice has promoted 'Make-a-Will fortnight' and we are delighted that 14 local solicitors have agreed to particpate by waiving their fee in return for a donation to The Rowans Hospice.

A perfect way to spend a day!
To raise funds for The Rowans Hospice Tim Barton is trekking to Everest Base camp!
To help him to achieve his goal you are invited to join him for a 14 mile training walk from Horndean via 8 Fullers public houses and back.
A map of the route and timings between pubs will be provided prior to the event. A £5.00 donation per person to The Rowans Hospice is requested.

The Liphook & District Businessmen's Association are staging their Annual 25 mile Charity Bike Ride
Stretch your legs with this Charity 25 mile Bike Ride, either as an 'Elite' rider or a 'Junior'. (Minimum age 10 years) Ride as a team for The Rowans Hospice and help to raise funds. Entry Fee £5.00 for each 'Elite' rider and £1 for each 'Junior'. (An 'Elite' rider is expected to complete the course in under 90 minutes.)
Download your Entry Form to be returned to The Rowans Hospice, along with the Sponsorship Form. It is important to read the Bike Ride Guide Lines.
A poster is also available.
Please note that it will be compulsory for all riders to wear a helmet.

Come along and meet local author Dee Williams, - 'The Flower Girls' and 'Lights out till Dawn' at our 'Rowans Readers' event. Dee will be on hand from 1.00pm to answer questions and chat about writing and publishing. Dee will have copies of her books for sale which she will sign.
Whilst there, browse the shelves of our extensive range of fiction and non-fiction books. We have hundreds of items on sale at our shop every week. You'll find a range of brand new and carefully selected donated items at recession-beating prices. We rely on the local community to supply us with good quality stock, so, if you're having a clear out, please donate to any one of The Rowans Hospice shops.
We will also be launching our Rowans Readers Club at this event.

The Rowans Hospice is delighted to repeat the very popular Ruby Ride for 2013, which is a sponsored bike ride in and around Portsmouth with the choice of four great routes; Fun, Leisure, Challenge and Epic, with refreshment stops along the way. All four routes will start and finish at 1000 Lakeside where you are welcome to meet up with friends and family, there will be food and drinks available to purchase. Everyone receives a t-shirt and medal on completion.

Vietnam Hill Tribe Trek & Community Project

The Challenge
Join The Rowans Hospice for this rewarding trek in the Mai Chau region of northern Vietnam. The trek takes you through jungle trails, small minority villages, past rice paddies and alongside gushing rivers. You will meet local people along the way, and each night have the unique opportunity to stay with the locals in their homes, experiencing their way of life. After the trek, return to the capital city, Hanoi and enjoy the hustle and bustle while you do something different by helping out at a community project.
Do Something Different...
You will spend time at a project near Hanoi which provides shelter and care for older people who have been abandoned by their families or have no relatives to take care of them, whilst at the same time, caring for disabled children who have been affected by Agent Orange or have life-threatening diseases. We anticipate assisting with improvements to the centre as well as spending time with the children. Previous groups have painted bedrooms, repaired doors and windows, made curtains and helped create a garden.

Fly like a bird!! On a day to suit YOU!
Help us raise funds by making an exhilarating 10,000 feet freefall tandem parachute jump!
You will have seen we have two specific dates, 11th May and 7th September, for skydives, but we can arrange a jump for any day if neither date is suitable.
Imagine, freefalling for 5,000 feet reaching speeds of 120 mph before opening your parachute for a 5 minute canopy ride taking in the stunning landscape before landing in front of spectators with friends and family having a grandstand view!
