Coffee Morning

Christmas Lights Switch On!

2 December 2015 - lights to be switched on at 6.30pm, in The Square, Wickham,

A great evening!

Father Christmas will be stopping by to switch on the Christmas Lights! There will be a marquee with stalls open from 5.30pm. In addition there will be live music, Jungle Buddies Play Bus and hotdogs. Parking available at Wickham Centre, Mill Lane.
Whilst enjoying the evening remember to look at at The Rowans Shop at Unit 10, Warwick Lane, which will be open late.

A magical evening!

Sarah Bolton invites you to join in with the annual Carols around the Pond sponsored by the Clanfield Parish Council and supported by a band from the Salvation Army together with students from Horndean Technology College (HTC) and the Christmas Blessing by Canon Dr Gill Hill.  There will be free mince pies and light sticks for the youngsters and the opportunity to make a voluntary donation to The Rowans Hospice at this entirely free event. It provides a wonderful opportunity for everyone to join in at this pre Christmas festive get-together.

Lake of Lights

Light up a Life - Lake of Lights

This simple act of remembrance is a poignant and meaningful way to celebrate, with reflection and hope, all those we miss at Christmas.

The festive season can be especially difficult for those who are coping with loss. Each December we hold our service, Light up a Life - Lake of Lights, where those who are bereaved are invited to remember someone by dedicating a light to them. A short service will take place at 5.45pm.

Everyone is welcome, not just those who have had contact with the Hospice. Additional candles will be available on the night in return for a small donation.

Come along to this Christmas Fete organised by Samantha Hammond to find that late special present and help to raise funds for The Rowans Hospice. There will entertainment from West Hill Park Community Choir at Noon. In addition to tombola, bric-a-brac, games, face painting, cake stall, gifts and lots more, there is a raffle with over 35 prizes, incl. pantomime tickets, a stay at New Place Devere,Shirrel Heath, and £50 Hallmark voucher. Entry 50p, children unde 16 free.

The time to show your moves!

The Rowans Hospice is delighted to repeat its popular Dance-a-thon to be held at Portsmouth Guildhall, with new styles of dances to look forward to it is set to be a great night.

The colour theme is Pink and Purple, so dress up in your tutus and leg warmers!

This year, children can also get involved with a Junior Dance-a-thon during the day - a perfect activity for the end of the half term!

Come and take part in teams so you can work together to keep going throughout the day or night.

The ultimate run!

The online ballot for the London Marathon in 2016 has now closed, however we have been lucky enough to be allocated a charity place at this prestigious event. We are looking to allocate this place using the following criteria to make our decision:-

  • Your reasons for wanting to support The Rowans Hospice
  • Your fundraising plan
  • If several applicants are equal in the above fields, then we will choose the runner who thinks they can raise the most money to help fund our important work at The Rowans Hospice, in supporting people with cancer and other life-limiting illnesses.  (a minimum of £1500 excluding the £400 registration fee)

If you would like to apply for this place, please complete an application form available here, and send this, along with your cheque for £400 to: Fundraising, The Rowans Hospice, Purbrook Heath Road, Purbrook, Waterlooville, PO7 5RU.

Fly like a bird!

Skydive! A breathtaking 2 mile high parachute jump: jumping 10,000 ft in tandem with an instructor, you will freefall 5,000ft reaching 120mph and then as your parachute opens you will experience a tranquil ride back to the drop zone!
Divers must be 16 years and over and under 16 stone.
Cost of Registration £225, which includes training and equipment, you are asked to raise a minumum sponsorship of £200 making £425 in total.
The event can also be arranged for any day to suit you. See 'Year round events.'

Our annual 6-mile walk or a 12-mile challenge!

Join us for our Moonlit Memories Walk under a star-lit sky along Southsea Seafront, through Old Portsmouth and the Historic Dockyard where HMS Victory will be illuminated.

There is also an opportunity to light a candle in memory of a loved one in Portsmouth Anglican Cathedral.

Join our Guinness World Record Holder, Doris Long, to abseil down Portsmouth's landmark building.

Daredevils are wanted to take our Abseil Challenge to brave the 94 metre descent down the iconic Emirates Spinnaker Tower in Portsmouth. This event will take place on both the 2nd and 3rd July 2016.

Over 18's only, open to all who are fit and under 21 stone. If any doubt as to your condition obtain a doctor's certificate. 
Registration costs £50 and you are asked to raise £200 sponsorship.

Help us raise funds by making an exhilarating 10,000 feet freefall tandem parachute jump! 

Imagine, freefalling  for 5,000 feet reaching speeds of 120 mph before opening your parachute for a 5 minute canopy ride taking in the stunning landscape before landing in front of spectators with friends and family having a grandstand view! 
Divers must be 16 years and over and under 16 stone.

Cost of registration is £225, which includes training and equipment, and you are asked to raise a minimum of £200 sponsorship making a total of £425.
